Gramophone Editor's Choice

The unique coupling is just one of many points in this disc's favour
Dvorák Symphony No 9, 'From the New World', B178 Op. 95/Martinu Symphony No 2, H295.
Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra/Paavo Järvi
Telarc New CD CD80616 (68 minutes : DDD)
An intriguing and successful coupling of the very familiar and the less well known. The Dvovák New World is one of classical music's all-time favourites; but the Martinu Second, premiered in Telarc's home town of Cleveland in 1943, is well worth getting to know - especially in such stunning sound.
