Local notables weigh in with their all-time favorite album and movie

Name: Paavo Järvi
Title: Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra music director
Residence: East Walnut Hills
Age: 44
Favorite disc: "Tüür: Magma" (Virgin Classics)
Artist: Percussionist Evelyn Glennie and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (Järvi conducting)
Why: "It's all new music by Erkki-Sven Tüür. If people think they know what classical music is, listen to this. This is more like a rock concerto, with Evelyn Glennie playing a drum set."
Favorite movie: "Children of Men," with Clive Owen, Michael Caine and Julianne Moore.
Why: "Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón is a good friend and our neighbor in London. I like that he takes something that is sort of surreal, but that has a real possibility of happening. It's not dealing with aliens, but it's a view of how our civilization can end up if we're not careful."
