Mahler 2nd featured this week at Music Hall

Paavo and the Cincinnati Symphony welcome soprano Latonia Moore and mezzo-soprano Lilli Paasikivi, along with the May Festival Chorus, for this week's special program featuring only one great work - Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 ("Resurrection") in which "he describes the suffering, renewal, hope and the ultimate joy of eternal life with some of the most inspiring music ever written."

Concerts take place this week at 8 pm on Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11, and will be performed without intermission, ending at approximately 10 pm. Tickets are available by calling (513)381-3300, Mon-Sat, 10-6 or by ordering online.

Listen to Paavo's Notes about this concert. And read the Program Notes before you go!

This concert will air on Classical WGUC, 90.9 via streaming audio Sunday, April 9, at 7:30 pm ET.

Lilli Paasikivi appears on Paavo's recording of Sibelius’ Maiden in the Tower with the Estonian National Symphony and she will also be appearing June 25 with Paavo and the London Symphony Orchestra in Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.
