The CSO’s Paavo Jarvi and his Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen have been profiled in a new documentary, The Beethoven Project, director by Germany’s Christian Berger. The film has Jarvi leading his German orchestra in all nine Beethoven symphonies over four days.

The Montreal article (it was apparently screened at the film festival) says: Berger was enthusiastic because “the orchestra is fantastic” and because the Estonia-born Jarvi is a classical star who, as luck would have it, is also charismatic, eloquent and candid beyond the boundaries of cultured political correctness.” He also refers to Jarvi as “a bit of an obsessive Puck at the podium.”

Besides a DVD for Sony Classical, there’s to be a global internet viewing on http://www.dw-world.de/
